At Parkview Dental we understand that a dental emergency can be a frightening time. We care about our patients and want to make sure that we are available to help you, your family, and your friends with a dental emergency should one arise unexpectedly. Please contact us at (403) 362-3799 if you are experiencing a dental emergency.

What is a Dental Emergency?

At Parkview Dental, we consider any situation in which you are experiencing pain or discomfort as a dental emergency. Since a dental emergency can be a frightening experience, if you are experiencing pain from a sudden or a lingering toothache, have a fractured or knocked-out tooth, or have been involved in an accident that involves your teeth and/or jaw should be treated by a dentist immediately.

Parkview Dental reserves time in our daily, specifically for dental emergencies and will accommodate both existing and new patients who are unable to see their regular dentist in a timely manner. We will offer our assistance over the phone to advise you on how to remain as comfortable as possible until you are able to be seen at our Brooks Dental Office.

If you experience any of the following, please contact our office immediately for assistance:

  • A tooth or teeth that have been knocked out
  • Teeth that have been chipped, cracked broken
  • Soft tissue injuries such as biting your lip or tongue
  • Loose teeth
  • An infection that has resulted in an abscessed of the teeth or gums that is causing pain that is not controlled with over-the-counter pain medications
  • Damage to restoration such as a dental crown, filling or bridge
  • Pain and/or discomfort after recent dental treatment

To manage these common dental emergencies, until you can visit our office, please visit CDA Dental Emergency Management.

Preventing Dental Emergencies

The best way to avoid dental emergencies from occurring and is best achieved by booking an appointment with Dr. Struan Vaughan and Dr. Matt Cosman on a regular basis for a comprehensive dental exam. Your dental exam includes checking for signs of weakened teeth, loosened or aging restorations and early the signs of infection that may indicate the presence of infection and the possibility of periodontal disease.

If you participate in any type of sporting activities that could impact your oral health, we encourage our patients, regardless of their age, to wear a properly sit, custom mouth guard while playing contact sports. Research shows that a large percentage of dental injuries are related to sports. A custom mouth guard can prevent many of these injuries from occurring.

We know that a dental emergency requires immediate attention and Brooks Emergency Dentistry is one of the many dental health services that we offer at Parkview Dental.
